Connecting a bank or credit card account
GlassJar connects to your bank through Plaid. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid’s secure window, and GlassJar never sees or stores your bank login. The connection is read-only. It brings in your account and transaction information, and it cannot move money.
Reviewing bank transactions
Transactions from connected accounts come into GlassJar for you to review. Match each one to a transaction already in your books, or record it as new from the same entry screen you use for everything else. Reviewing a few times a week keeps the list short.
Reconciling
Reconciling confirms that your books agree with your bank statement for a period. Compare the statement’s ending balance with GlassJar, then mark each cleared transaction. When the difference is zero, the period is reconciled. If it does not reach zero, look for:
- a missing transaction
- a duplicate
- an amount entered with transposed digits
If a connection stops updating
Banks sometimes ask you to sign in again, usually after a password change or a security update. Reconnecting through Plaid restores the feed. If an account still is not updating, email support@glassjar.io and tell us which bank it is.
